Ask Your AI Assistant Where to Charge: the ChargeMatcher Skill for Claude Code
Ask an AI assistant where to charge your EV and it will usually send you to a map or quote a price it remembers. With the ChargeMatcher skill, it looks up the chargers actually near you and tells you what your next charge will cost, priced for your car and your cards.
What you get
Type the question the way you would ask a friend: “Where's the cheapest fast charger around Avignon?”, “goedkoopste laadpaal in Utrecht?”, “I'm at 10 %, where do I charge to 90 % near Gare Montparnasse?”. The assistant answers in your language with:
- The total price of the charge, not just a rate per kWh, worked out from your battery and how much you want to add.
- The best way to pay at each charger: walk-up, the operator's free app, or a card or subscription you already have.
- Only chargers your car can use, at the power it will actually draw, with the charging time.
- Live availability where the operator publishes it.
- A link to the full list and map, on MeilleureCharge.fr in France and on ChargeMatcher everywhere else.
A real answer, 29 September 2026, fast charging around Avignon for a Renault 5 (20 → 80 %): cheapest was €12.37 for 31 kWh (€0.39/kWh) at Lidl, Route de Montfavet, 2.3 km away, no subscription needed, 2 of 2 chargers free. The next fast charger nearby cost €16.26 for the same charge.
Install it in a minute
- Download the skill from its page on Agensi. It is free.
- Unzip it into your agent's skills folder:
~/.claude/skillsfor Claude Code on Mac or Linux. On claude.ai, upload the zip under Settings → Capabilities → Skills instead. - Restart the agent if it was running. The skill is picked up automatically, with no configuration.
Then just ask. You don't need to name the skill: any question about where to charge an EV cheaply is enough.
It works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and the 20+ other agents listed on Agensi that read the standard skill format.
It remembers your car
The first time, the assistant asks which car you drive and which charging cards you carry, and “none” is a fine answer. It saves them in a small file on your own computer and never asks again. Tell it you changed cars or got a new card and it updates. Ask it to forget you and the file is deleted.
Your location is only used when you ask for chargers “near me” and your assistant already knows where you are. Otherwise it asks for a city or an address.
